U.S.  Military / Aerospace Standard Anchor Nuts

A non-exhaustive list of nut plates conforming to common U.S Military & Aerospace Standards is provided below together with information on the different standardization bodies & supersedures.

Army-Navy Standards (AN) Predecessor to Mil-Spec (MS),
AN fasteners are the industry standard for aircraft, indicating that these fasteners are made to military specifications to stand up to the toughest jobs without faltering.

Military Standards (Mil-Spec, MS)
United States Defence Standards used to help achieve standardization objectives by the U.S. Department of Defence. Also used by other non-Defence government organizations, technical organizations, and industry.

National Aerospace Standards (NAS)
NAS stands for National Aerospace Standards developed and administered by the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA). NAS Standards relate to high strength, precision fasteners. The NA prefix is used for fasteners in Metric measurement system. In coordination with the US Department of Defence, AIA has converted a number of AN and MS Standards to NAS. These now carry the respective prefixes “NASM” (for inch fasteners) or “NAM” (for their Metric counterparts). Despite the conversions, fasteners are often procured with their previous AN and MS part numbers.

Military Standard Anchor Nuts

MS 21047 / AN 366F Series Fixed Self-Locking Two-Lug Nutplates
Fixed self locking elastic insert 2-lug nutplates made of cadmium plated steel with nylon insert and plain rivet holes. They replace respective AN 366F series nutplates and come in different Unified thread sizes to meet application requirements.

MS 21069 / MS 21070 Series Fixed Self-Locking Two-Lug  Nutplates
Fixed self-locking, two lug, reduced rivet spacing low height miniature nut plates. MS 21069 series nut plates are made from cadmium plated steel while those of MS 21070 series from corrosion resistant steel (CRES). They come in different Unified Thread sizes with plain or countersunk rivet holes on each side,  with or without a dry film lube. MS 21069 / MS 21070 Series are superseded by NASM 21069 / NASM 21070 series respectively.

MS 21078 Series Fixed Self-Locking Two-Lug Nutplates
Fixed self locking 2-lug nutplates with elastic insert and plain rivet holes. They replace respective AN 366F series anchor nuts. Made from cadmium plated steel they are available in different Unified thread sizes.

NASM / MS 21048 / NAS 680 Series Fixed Self-Locking Low Height Two-Lug CRES Nutplates
Fixed Low Height Self-Locking Two-Lug CRES nutplates. Made from  Corrosion Resistant Steel (CRES) A286 (UNS S66 286) in 450 ° F and 800 ° F versions with a passivated finish they are same as those of MS 21047series except that they are made from stainless steel and silver plated (800 ° F only). They have a nylon insert and are available in different Unified thread sizes, with plain rivet or countersunk rivet holes on each side and come with or without a dry film lubricant (450 ° F only). MS 21048 nutplates supercede AN 362, AN 366, NAS 680  and they are superseded by NASM 21048 series. The Part Identification Number (PIN) for MS 21048 and the part number for NASM 21048 are identical. The part numbers have not been changed.

MS 21049 / MS 21050 Series Fixed Self-Locking Two-Lug Nutplates
Low height fixed self-locking two-lug reduced rivet spacing nutplates.  MS 21049 series nutplates are manufactured from cadmium plated steel while those in MS 21050 series are produced from corrosion resistant steel and silver plated. They are available in different Unified thread sizes, with plain or countersunk rivet holes on each side and come with or without a dry film lube.

MS 21051 / MS 21052 Series Fixed Self-Locking One-Lug Nutplates
Fixed self-locking, low height, one lug, standard rivet spacing nutplates. MS 21051 series nutplates are manufactured from cadmium plated carbon steel while MS 21052 anchor nuts are produced from corrosion resistant steel (CRES). They are available in different Unified thread sizes, with plain or countersunk rivet holes and come with or without a dry film lube.

MS 21055 / MS 21056 Series Fixed Self-Locking Low Height Corner Nutplates
Fixed self-locking, low height corner nutplates.  MS 21055 series nutplates are manufactured from cadmium plated carbon steel while MS 21056 nut plates are produced from corrosion resistant steel (CRES). They are available in different Unified thread sizes, with plain or countersunk rivet holes and come with or without a dry film lube.

MS 21059 / MS 21060 Series Floating Self-Locking Low Height Two-Lug Nutplates
Floating low height self-locking, two lug  anchor nuts. Those included in MS 21059 series are manufactured from cadmium plated carbon steel while the MS 21060 nutplates are produced from corrosion resistant steel (CRES) and silver plated. They are available in different Unified thread sizes, with plain or countersunk rivet holes on each side and come with or without a dry film lube.

MS 21061 / MS 21062 Series Floating Self-Locking Low Height One-Lug Nutplates
Floating low height self-locking, one lug  anchor nuts. Those included in MS 21061 series are manufactured from cadmium plated carbon steel while the MS 21062 nutplates are produced from corrosion resistant steel (CRES). They are available in different Unified thread sizes, with plain or countersunk rivet holes on each side and come with or without a dry film lube.

MS 21071 / MS 21072 Series Fixed Self-Locking One-Lug Miniature Nutplates
Fixed low height self-locking, one lug, reduced rivet spacing miniature nutplates. Those included in MS 21071 series are manufactured from cadmium plated carbon steel while the MS 21072 nutplates are produced from corrosion resistant steel (CRES). They are available in different Unified thread sizes, with plain or countersunk rivet holes on each side and come with or without a dry film lube. MS 21071 / MS 21072 Series are superseded by NASM 21071 / NASM 21072 series respectively.
